Overview:

Dextromethamphetamine, known by the brand name of Desoxyn, is the dextro isomer of the psychostimulant drug methamphetamine hydrochloride (HCl) (which is also known as desoxyephedrine and is the chemical name which the brand name Desoxyn was derived from; Desoxyephedrine) intended for medical usage in the treatment of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), narcolepsy, and for the short-term treatment of exogenous obesity.

Desoxyn is chemically known as (S)-N,αlpha-dimethylbenzeneethanamine hydrochloride, is a member of the amphetamine group of sympathomimetic amines.

After being first developed in the United States in 1942, Desoxyn was manufactured and marketed by Abbott Laboratories as an immediate-release tablet. In 2002, Abbott sold their rights to Desoxyn to Ovation Pharma, which took over production and marketing of the drug (although initially, Abbott maintained production at their facilities).
