The Mystery of Mysteries:

On the use of certain substances (like laughing gas, Ether and DXM) for the purpose of understanding the origin of the universe and similar mysteries

By Aurelius Aeternus - November 2, 2009

There are few questions which are tormenting and yet attracting the mind like the following ones:

-How can one imagine the boundaries of the universe?
-What exists beyond these boundaries?
-What existed before the formation of the universe?

Nothing at all? Or the extremely compressed matter which expanded in all directions when the big bang happened? But where did this initial matter come from? It could certainly not have come into existence out of nothing. Because we humans could until now not answer these fundamental questions in an leastwise somewhat satisfying way, one possible explanation could be that we and our entire universe are just a gigantic simulation. But this explanation is also not without its problems, for immediately another question forces its way into our mind: Who or what is the creator of this simulation, and how did he come into existence?

Another theory proposes that initially space and matter did not exist, instead there was an immaterial being (it could be called god or perhaps it is not actually a being but rather an unpersonal force or energy) - and our souls and our consciousness are separated fragments of it - these fragments may perhaps return to their origin after the death of the physical body. Space and matter were possibly not even planned and they came into existence through some kind of accident. But again one must ask how and out of what this original immaterial being came into existence and in which way space and matter were created when they did not exist before.

It has also been suggested that our entire world - that which we call "reality" - is just an illusion or a dream. But who is in this case the dreamer or the deceiver and the deceived and where did he / they come from?

None of these theories is suitable as an explanation for this most mysterious secret of all secrets.Perhaps the universe has no boundaries at all, and is instead of infinite size. But the human intellect cannot fathom this kind of infinity.

One could just as well claim that the theory of the big bang is wrong and that the universe has always existed. Yet again we humans are not able to truly understand this concept of eternal existence. Logic requires that everything - including the whole universe - must have originated at one point in time and out of something.

This mystery seems to be unsolvable and in a way it has proven false all theories so far which tried to explain the origin of the universe. For how could anything ever form out of nothingness? We are not even able to imagine such a total nothingness where even empty space did not yet exist. It seems as if one cannot arrive at useful and satisfactory results by using the principles of strict logic in the examination of these questions.

So one could only attempt to answer those questions whitout the instruments of logic but by another, totally different method. I am thinking about the multitude of modified and expanded states of consciousness which are entirely different from the "normal" everyday state of consciousness. For this purpose we should consider as our primary instruments intense deep meditation, trance, ecstasy as well as astral projection and maybe also lucid dreaming and hypnosis. Another possibility is the usage of substances which transform the consciousness. For obvious reasons legal substances are highly preferable.

In this respect I have mainly acquired experience with nitrous oxide (also known as "laughing gas") and ether as well as with DXM (Dextromethorphan), which seemed less effective for this purpose than the first two substances. Nitrous oxide and ether are - as is common knowledge - used to induce narcosis. If one uses these substances during experimentation on oneself in doses which decrease the amount of vigilance of consciousness - but without causing full hypnosis, instead remaining at a level slightly short of it, strange trains of thought begin to appear. In many cases one experiences a feeling of suddenly understanding all secrets of the universe, including the deepest mysteries, and one feels as if this was not the first time of being in this state (this was possibly before the bodily incarnation). Additionally there might arise a feeling that the world as we experience it every day is not truly "real", and the idea that everything without exception - all living beings and all lifeless matter are all somehow connected with each other.

Unfortunately all the answers to the important secrets concerning the universe vanish almost completely as soon as one returns to the normal state of consciousness.

If a method could be developed which makes it possible to remember those answers in the normal state of consciousness as well, we would have greatly advanced in our examination of the most important secrets of the universe. But perhaps this is impossible because the human intellect is simply unable to comprehend these answers while in the state of normal consciousness. The only possible path to the actual solutions to these riddles might be passable only before birth and after death, but not during the existence as a corporal incarnation. This would certainly be a huge dissapointment for all humans who have dedicated their time and efforts to finding solutions for the great riddles of the universe.

I am convinced that additional important questions are connected to the unanswered questions which I have mentioned above - for instance the question which purpose our life might have (only if there is actual any purpose) and what will happen with us humans after death.
